Abstract

The toroid transformer comprises a ring core on which are at least one primary and one secondary windings, positioned on two separate sectors. A shunt element connects magnetically a core part between the adjacent ends of the sectors to another core part between the other sector ends. The shunt element is magnetically coupled to the ring core parts via an air gap, and can be positioned inside the core central aperture, to one side, or on each side of the core. - The shape of the shunt element is straight or circular arc-form, and in this latter case it is positioned peripherally outside of and concentric to the core. The air gap between the shunt element and the core is filled with a solid non-magnetic material, and the union between core and element is mechanical, adhesive or with the two cast together.
