Description
The present invention relates to a method for preparing a conductive film having improved electrical conductivity by adding a colloidal solution of metal nanoparticles and a graphene solution to a carbon nanotube solution.
(Hereinafter referred to as "low-dimensional material conductive film") having unique optical properties and electrical properties can be produced by adding a polymer binder to a low-dimensional material dispersion such as a metal nanoparticle colloid solution and a carbon nanotube solution . Such low-dimensional material conductive films are used as core materials in major industrial fields such as transparent conductive films (transparent electrodes), electromagnetic wave shielding materials, and heat radiation sheets.
One metal nanoparticle or one carbon nanotube has excellent electrical conductivity. However, due to the following structural features, the low-dimensional material conductive film has a limit in electrical conductivity.
1. Additives and binders
As the amount of additive (acid, surfactant, etc.) and binder are increased for the high dispersion effect of the low-dimensional material dispersion, the distance between the metal nanoparticles or the carbon nanotubes becomes distant and consequently, the electrical conductivity deteriorates. This electrical conductivity characteristic is also utilized as a means for producing a high-resistance conductive film.
2. Contact structure of low dimensional material
The electrical conduction of metal nanoparticles, a zero-dimensional material when contact is made between the low-dimensional materials in the polymer matrix, is made by point contact, and the conduction between the carbon nanotubes, which are one- Electrical conduction is achieved by line contact. That is, the contact area between the low-dimensional materials is small and the electric conductivity is also weakened.
That is, the electrical conductivity of the conductive film containing the zero-dimensional (nanoparticle) and one-dimensional (carbon nanotube) materials implies a fundamental limitation as described above.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a low-dimensional material conductive film having improved electrical conductivity and a method of manufacturing the same.
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention utilizes the inherent physical properties of Graphene, which is a two-dimensional nanosheet.
The intrinsic properties of graphene used in the present invention are summarized as follows: 1) high electric conductivity (1,000 times or more of permissible current density copper and silver) beyond carbon nanotubes; and 2) minimization of contact resistance by surface contact between graphene.
When the graphene is mixed with the metal nanoparticles or the carbon nanotubes, the gap between the metal nanoparticles or the carbon nanotubes can be efficiently connected to form a conductive film having improved electrical conductivity. The reason for the improvement of electrical conductivity by graphene addition is 1) excellent electrical conductivity inherent to graphene and 2) two-dimensional shape conductor contact (comparison: point contact between nanoparticles and line contact between carbon nanotubes).
According to the present invention, it is possible to produce a conductive film having improved electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity by adding low-cost expanded graphite and the graphenes obtained from the dispersion to metallic nanoparticles or carbon nanotube dispersions having limited electric conductivity.
Therefore, the principles of the present invention can be applied to various fields such as semiconductor, display, and IT.
Ⅰ. Conductive film manufacturing method
(A) preparing graphene; (b) mixing the graphene with the metal nanoparticle dispersion or the carbon nanotube dispersion to prepare a mixed solution; And (c) coating the mixed solution on the base material. The present invention also provides a method for manufacturing a high-conductivity conductive film of a low dimensional material.
1. (a)단계1. Step (a)
This step is a step of producing graphene.
Graphene refers to a planar monolayer structure of graphite (an infinite laminated structure of graphene sheets). CNTs mean that the graphenes are cylindrically dried. When the number of graphene layers is between 1 and 10, the inherent physical properties of graphene are different from that of graphene. When the number of graphene layers is 10 or more, the physical properties of the graphene are slightly reduced, but the properties are superior to the graphene.
The graphene can be produced by microwave treatment or heat treatment of Carbon Intercalated Compounds (CIC) to produce an expanded graphite, and then the expanded graphite is put into a solvent and dispersed. At this time, the step of adding the expanded graphite to the solvent may include a step of adding an acid, a binder and a dispersant to the solution. The expanded graphite can be ultrasonically pulverized in a solvent.
The inter-carbon intercalation compound (CIC) has been established in a conventional manner, and it has been commercialized that exothermic sulfuric acid is contained between graphite layers of graphite powder at a very low cost.
The inter-carbon interlaminar compound can be subjected to microwave treatment (microwave irradiation of 2450 MHZ for example) to produce expanded graphite. When the microwave is irradiated to the carbon intercalation compound, the vibration in the molecular unit starts, and the vibration energy is converted into heat energy, and the anhydrous sulfuric acid which is present between the carbon layers is instantaneously vaporized and flies. During this process, the carbon layers expand and become expanded graphite, which is several hundred times more bulky than the original volume. This process may be carried out in air, but is preferably carried out in an inert gas, N 2 , Ar, He or the like. As the final mechanism of the microwave treatment for the carbon intercalation compound is performed by heat energy, a method of producing expanded graphite by a heat treatment at a high temperature of about 1,000 degrees or more for several seconds is also preferable.
The expanded graphite may be put into a solvent and dispersed to prepare graphene. The process of dispersing the expanded graphite can be realized by ultrasonic pulverization as a process of completely decomposing expanded graphite which has spread to some extent.
In this process, graphene having 10 or less graphite layers and carbon flakes having 10 or more layers of graphite layers are simultaneously produced. In this case, when acid treatment, chemical treatment and binder addition are performed by applying a conventional carbon nanotube dispersion method, Is increased. However, such a method has a disadvantage in that inherent electrical conductivity of graphene is deteriorated because oxidized graphene is produced.
In the case of single-walled carbon nanotubes, the surface is completely oxidized (-COH, -CO, -COOH, etc.) to have electrical conductivity like an insulator, but the graphenes having two or more layers have internal carbon The high conductivity by the sheet can be exerted. Therefore, when oxidized graphene is formed, the case of multi-layered graphene is advantageous for improving electric conduction.
2. (b)단계2. Step (b)
In this step, graphene is mixed with a metal nanoparticle dispersion or a carbon nanotube (Carbon Nano Tube: CNT) dispersion to prepare a mixed solution.
A commercial CNT dispersion based on an aqueous solution and a graphene aqueous solution may be mixed in a weight ratio.
3. (c)단계3. Step (c)
This step is a step of coating the mixed solution onto the base material.
Specifically, spin coating is performed on a glass substrate material having a surface area of 5 cm x 5 cm. In order to make the thickness of the coating film uniform, a spin coating process is performed in an oven at 50-100 ° C. can do.
As the coating method, conventional solution coating, dip coating, spin coating, printing, liquid spraying, and the like can be applied.
Ⅱ. Principle of electric conductivity improvement
The improvement of the electrical conductivity of the low-dimensional material high conductivity conductive film produced according to the present invention can be improved by: 1) improvement of the electrical conductivity due to the intrinsic electrical conductivity of graphene and 2) improvement of electrical conductivity between the metal nanoparticles or carbon nanotubes Of high-efficiency filling.
1 schematically shows a principle of improving electric conductivity by the surface contact principle of graphene, and explains a griffin interfacial contact structure.
Figure 2 is a TEM photograph of the graphene prepared in the present invention showing that a very thin form of graphene was successfully prepared according to the present invention. Generally, it is known that when the number of carbon layers is less than 10, the inherent electrical conduction properties of graphene are exerted. The theoretical current density of graphene is about 1,000 times that of copper or silver.
Carbon flakes with more than 10 layers of carbon layers may have a slightly lower electrical conductivity than graphenes up to
FIG. 3 is a graph showing an improvement in electric conductivity of the carbon nanotube conductive film according to the addition of graphene as an effect of the present invention, and is an example in which graphene is applied to a carbon nanotube paste. This carbon nanotube paste is a commercially available product having a sheet resistance of about 500? /? And a light transmittance of 85% at a wavelength of 550 nm when a conductive film having a thickness of 200 nm is formed. FIG. 3 is a graph showing sheet resistance when a conductive film having the same thickness is prepared by mixing graphene powder with carbon nanotubes at a weight ratio and re-dispersing the carbon nanotube paste. The surface resistances of the conductive films were decreased to 460, 410, 370, 320 and 300 Ω / □, respectively, when 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% of graphene was added to the carbon nanotubes. This is due to the high electrical conductivity of the graphene and the physical interfacial phenomenon, which provides many channels through which electrons can flow while supplementing vacant spaces between carbon nanotubes.
FIG. 4 is a graph showing an improvement in the electrical conductivity of the metal nanoparticle conductive film by graphene as an effect of the present invention, in which graphene is applied to a silver paste containing a polymer binder. This paste has a sheet resistance of about 300? /? And a light transmittance of 88% at a wavelength of 550 nm when a conductive film having a thickness of 100 nm is formed. FIG. 4 is a graph showing sheet resistance when a conductive film having the same thickness is prepared by mixing graphene powder with silver nanoparticles at a weight ratio and redispersing the paste. When the graphene was added 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% by weight of the silver nanoparticles, the sheet resistances of the conductive films were greatly reduced to 270, 240, 220, 210 and 200? This is also due to the high electrical conduction properties of the graphene and the physical interfacial phenomenon, which provides a lot of passageways through which electrons can flow while supplementing vacant spaces between the silver nanoparticles.
The electrical conductivity enhancement principle according to the graphene inclusion of the present invention is also directly related to the thermal conductivity. In other words, carbon nanotubes and graphene are the best heat transfer media to leap over existing metals. There are three components to heat transfer. The first is the heat transfer inside the material by phonon, the second is the radiation from the heating medium surface (ideally blackbody radiation is the best), and the third is heat transfer by convection. As a conventional material, the heat transfer of the metal itself is very good. However, the radiant effect is so low that the heat stays in the metal itself. Therefore, in the case of a computer or the like, the cooling fan must be operated again to remove heat from the metal.
Carbon nanotubes and graphene have higher thermal conductivity than metals. In addition, it is expected to be a next-generation heat-dissipating material because an ideal blackbody-like thermal radiation (radiation) occurs. Also prototypes such as PDP heat sinks are already on the market. Therefore, carbon nanotubes and graphene-containing heat sinks do not require additional facilities such as cooling fans.
Therefore, the meaning of the graph of the electric conductivity improvement according to the increase of the graphene content in FIGS. 3 and 4 means the improvement of the thermal conductivity. Accordingly, the improvement of the electrical conductivity of graphene of the present invention can be utilized not only for a transparent conductive film, a transparent electrode, an electromagnetic shielding agent, but also for a heat dissipation field (semiconductor chip package, computer heat dissipation, lighting apparatus, etc.).
Fig. 1 schematically shows the principle of improving electric conductivity by the surface contact principle of graphene.
