Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for casting open-pored cellular metal parts, in particular from lead alloys. Such metal parts can be used for the production of battery electrodes.
Interest in cellular metal parts has increased dramatically in recent years. Due to their internal structure, cellular metal parts can expand the available property profile. They are about 50 to 90% lighter than compact materials, temperature resistant, good recyclability and absorb impact energy. When used properly, they increase rigidity and absorb vibrational energy. Especially for lightweight construction, these properties are extremely promising. In particular, the open-pore cellular metal parts have a wide application potential due to their flow through.
Open-pore cellular metal parts, also referred to as metal foams, represent new materials from known materials. In addition to the enormous weight reduction of about 90% based on solid material, the open-pore three-dimensional networked structure has created a spectrum of new properties that challenge the design of innovative products. The following features are of particular interest in particular properties: low weight, high mechanical stability, permeability / infiltrability, large inner surface, integral connection, virtually free choice of material and the geometric degrees of freedom. The properties can be combined in their design and ensure optimal adaptation to the functionality of the product.

Based on the described prior art and the associated problems, the invention has for its object to provide a method for casting open-cell cellular battery electrodes of metal alloys, in particular of lead alloys having a larger reaction surface, which can prevent the disadvantages shown and a controlled mold filling during casting allows.
According to the invention the object is achieved in that the low-pressure casting with controlled mold filling is used. For this purpose, a permanent mold (mold) and a lost PreForm of place-holding salt granules, which is bound with a binder used. The continuous casting mold is applied to a low pressure casting device and can be filled under pressure of the boiler room rising against gravity.
The binder is made from a waterglass binder added with 7-13% by weight of water (based on the weight of the waterglass binder) with addition of 7 to 12% by weight of starch (based on the weight of the water-stabilized waterglass binder). Subsequently, for the preparation of the preform, the mixing of the salt granules with 6 to 10% by weight of the binder takes place (based on the weight of the salt granules.) After introducing the mixture into a mold, the preform becomes CO 2 or warmer for the purpose of hardening The resulting preheated PreForm enters the mold and then the casting process can be carried out, the gas products produced during the casting process can be sucked off, after cooling the casting is removed from the low pressure casting device and the casting system is removed The castings produced in this way have a high structural stability, a significantly increased reaction surface with reduced weight, In the process according to the invention it is advantageous that the triggering of the granules with the binder from Gu Part can be done with water.
The PreForm shown in the example is based on waterglass binder mixed with 10% by weight of water (based on the weight of the waterglass binder) and mixed with 8% by weight of starch (based on the weight of the waterglass binder mixed with water). This binder mixture is used for the production of pre-forms with an average granule diameter of about 4 mm in an amount of 9% by weight (based on the weight of the salt granules) used for bonding the granules together. To cure the preform, the mold is perfused with CO 2 and then removed from the mold.
With the aid of the controlled mold filling, several castings can be poured simultaneously or, depending on the geometry and quantity, a block can be poured off and then divided into several pieces.
- • Hoher Infiltrationsgrad
- • Einfaches Gießsystem
- • Good material utilization results in low material usage, which means relatively less energy input, as less material needs to be melted and less waste, and less cycle material is needed.
- • Consistently high metallurgical quality of foam electrodes
- • Cavity clearance of foam electrodes
- • Homogeneous material structure of the foam electrodes
- • Oxide-free foam electrodes (slag free casting)
- • High degree of infiltration
- • Simple casting system
