Abstract
The present invention relates to a beam structure with high load carrying and energy absorbing capability, particularly applicable in land and aircraft, where lightweight, high load carrying capacity, and deformation control are important in structural elements acting as beams. The section of the said beam structure (2) comprises an outer part comprising four outer walls (6-9); at least one inner part consisting of at least three regions which are located between the said walls (6-9) and exhibit different mechanical behavior, comprising at least one third region (3) comprising multiple auxetic cells with negative Poisson's ratio, which do not deform in the lateral direction (D1 ) with increasing deformation (D2), at least one fifth region (5) comprising multiple auxetic cells with a negative Poisson's ratio, showing a tendency to expand (D3) under bending stress, and at least one fourth region (4) comprising at least one octagonal cell with a high moment of inertia located between the third region (3) and the fifth region (5) so that the transitions between the third region (3) and the fifth region (5) are smooth and the cell arms remain in the same direction.
