Abstract
PURPOSE: A porous ceramic is filled with a pharmacologically active, water-soluble compound and the compound is made hard-soluble to give the objective preparation wth long-lasting activity.
CONSTITUTION: After a porous ceramic such as porous ceramic ball of 5mm diameter with an average pore diameter of about 40μ and 39% porosity is filled with a pharmacologically active and water-soluble compound such as sodium cefazolin, the compound is made hard soluble in water by a known chemical process to give the objective preparation with long-lasting activity. The chemical process means, e.g., the formation of the hard-soluble, free compound from the water-soluble compound, the formation of a complex, hard-soluble salt or solvated compound. The preparation with long-lasting activity is produced by no use of toxic subtances, therefore, it can be embedded in muscles, bone marrows or bone-defective part after the exsection of osteoncus.
