Double salient magnet generator
Background of the Invention Field of the invention
The present invention relates to low-speed generators, and in particular to generators for direct acting wind turbines.Description of related technology
In recent years, wind turbines have become an environmentally safe and relatively inexpensive alternative energy.
Attracting attention. Because of this growing interest, reliable and efficient wind
Considerable effort has been made to develop a turbine.
Generally, wind turbines include a rotor having a plurality of blades. The rotor is
Install horizontally in a housing positioned on a truss or monotube tower.
Attached. Turbine blades convert wind power into rotational power, which
One or more generators rotatably coupled to the rotor through a gearbox.
The electric machine is driven. The gearbox is basically low in the turbine rotor for the generator.
Increase the rotational speed and transfer mechanical energy to the utility grid.
Necessary for efficient conversion to air energy.
Many conventional wind turbines use the U.S. standard for ac power, 60 s / s.
It rotates at a constant speed to generate electricity at a cycle (60 Hz). Continuous wind speed
As such, such wind turbines have a system that maintains a constant rotor speed.
Must have a stem. In one such system, the wind speed increased
Sometimes blade pitch is increased and blade pitch is reduced when wind speed decreases
The rotor speed is kept constant by reducing it.
Some turbines are variable by adjusting the output using a power converter
Works at speed. When the speed of the turbine rotor fluctuates, the alternating current flowing from the generator
The frequency of the current also varies. Positioning between generator and utility grid
The converted power converter converts the variable frequency AC current to DC current and outputs 60 cycles per second.
To an alternating current having a constant frequency.
Wind turbines must be robust and reliable. Turbine gear
Because the box is expensive, heavy and subject to maintenance,
It is desirable to eliminate the gearbox by connecting directly to the bin rotor. straight
The advantages associated with dynamic wind turbines are increased reliability, lower costs, and lower weight.
Slightly quieter, more efficient, and has no torque limit.
However, conventional generators are efficient at low rotor speeds of 30 to 50 rpm.
The turbine rotor can be directly connected to the generator.
Has a problem. One machine that can be used as a generator at low rotor speeds is Weh,

It is shown.
The transverse magnetic flux (TF) machine shown in FIG. 1 has an annular rotor 2 (only the portion shown).
, A fixed outer armature winding 4, a fixed inner armature winding 6, and a plurality of outer stators.
Core flux guide 8 and a plurality of inner stator core flux guides
And a key 10. The annular rotor 2 comprises a first array 12 of permanent magnets and a permanent magnet
And a second array 14. The ring 16 is made of a non-magnetic material such as a fiber reinforced resin.
Thus, it is sandwiched between two permanent magnet arrays. The annular rotor 2 has a permanent magnet 12 made of iron.
So that the permanent magnets 14 are arranged alternately with the iron elements 20, alternating with the elements 18.
It is composed of
Although TF machines can operate at low rotor speeds, they have some significant deficiencies. Ingredient
Physically, TF machines are susceptible to significant slot flux leakage, which results in poor performance.
to be influenced. To understand the nature of this problem, it is useful to consider the relationship
You.
P≡Γω
Where P = machine power rating
Γ = torque
ω = rotor angular velocity
From the above relationship, to achieve high power rating (P) at low angular velocity (ω),
Thus, it is clear that the generated torque (Γ) should be maximized. General
In the art, in order to obtain high torque, the maximum
It is known that the current in the slave windings 4 and 6 needs to be increased. Heat generation
To support the additional current in windings 4 and 6 without inadequate energy loss caused by
To be ported, the cross-sectional area of armature windings 4 and 6 must be increased.
Further, generally in the art, the torque generated by a machine is
Squared (or cubed, or any other power greater than 1) times the machine length
It is known that it is proportional to the value. In other words, the following equation holds.
Γ = κdTwoL
Γ = torque
k = constant
L = machine active material length
d = active material diameter of the machine
The above relationship shows that when achieving high torque in a small package, the optimal solution is
It indicates increasing the diameter rather than the length of the machine. Shown in FIG.
In the prior art system described above, the diameter of the TF machine was increased and the length was kept constant.
A stator core flux module including armature windings 4 and 6, respectively.
Only the slot depth D of the armature windings 8 and 10
The area can be maximized (because the depth D is a function of the diameter of the machine)
On the other hand, the slot width W of the stator core flux guides 8 and 10 (machine
Length function) must remain the same.
FIG. 2 shows the cross-sectional area of the slot air gap as the slot depth D increases.
AaAnd the flux in the steel of the outer stator core flux guide 8, for example.

Remains constant. The magnetic resistance (resistance given to the magnetic flux from the magnetic circuit) is L /
μA, so
(In the above formula,
μ = permeability of medium
L = magnetic flux path length
A = cross-sectional area of the medium)
From FIG. 2, it can be seen that as the slot depth D increases, the outer stator core flux
The reluctance in the steel of the guide 8 is increased, while the slot air gap
It is clear that the reluctance in the tip is reduced. Therefore, the slot depth
Increasing D increases flux leakage, so that flux leakage is reduced by the outer stator core.
Route L in the flux guide 8sInstead of following the path LaAlong the slot
Through the air gap. Route LsInstead of following the path Laalong
The magnetic flux leaking from the slot air gap is distributed in the slot air gap.
Link all the coils of a placed winding (eg, winding 4 in FIG. 1)
And therefore does not participate in generating the rated torque of the machine, and
Rating decreases.
Another disadvantage of TF machines is that the two stators (ie, the outer stator core flange)
Flux guide 8 and inner stator core flux guide 10)
The outer armature winding 4 and the inner armature winding 6 (FIG. 1)
The reluctances are different, which creates an electromagnetic imbalance between the two phases. TF
The cause of the machine's electromagnetic imbalance can be identified with respect to FIG. Air gap
23 and defined by outer stator core flux guides 8 alternating with one another.
The outer volume 22 comprises an inner stator core alternating with air gaps 25.
Is greater than the inner volume 24 defined by the flux guide 10; Both volumes
Same number of same stator core flux guides 22 and 24 made of steel
But since the outer volume 22 is physically larger than the inner volume 24, the outer volume 2
The ratio of steel to air in 2 is less than the same ratio in inner volume 24. Therefore, outside
The side volume 22 has a higher magnetic flux resistance than the inner volume 24, and
The magnetic force between the two phases of the armature winding 4 and the inner armature winding 6 (not shown in FIG. 3)
Imbalance occurs. Contributes to heat loss due to magnetic imbalance between the two phases of the TF machine
Circulating currents, bearing currents that cause rotor bearing failure, and uneven load on the rotor
Therefore, the difficulty of mechanical and electrical design of the machine is increased.
Further, the annular rotor 2, the outer stator core flux guide 8 and the inner stator
As shown in FIG. 4, a small stator core flux guide 10 is provided.
Maintaining the small air gaps 26 and 28 depends on the dimensions of these components.
(The number of poles in the machine and hence the size
Is desirable because it improves the performance of the machine at low rotor speeds)
Manufacturing has proven to be a cumbersome task (in general, in the art,
For maximum power and efficiency, the moving and stationary components of the electric machine must be
It is known that the air gap between them must be minimized). Ma
The TF machine is equipped with a fixed outer stator core flux guide 8 and an annular low
The concentric orientation of the rotor 2 increases due to the radial expansion of the annular rotor 2 as the rotor speed increases.
Until the annular rotor 2 hits the outer stator core flux guide 8.
A Gap 26 gradually decreases, causing catastrophic failure of TF aircraft
Such an orientation is not suitable for high-speed operation.
Further, the outer stator core flux guide 8 and the inner stator core
A complex fixed assembly having a flux guide 10 and armature windings 4 and 6
TF machines are relatively expensive because it is difficult to produce assemblies. TF machine for winding
Large amounts of copper are used, which further increases manufacturing costs. Has thickness T (Fig. 4)
Since only the armature windings 4 and 6 segments are used for torque generation (winding
Copper in the windings is ineffective because only those segments of
Used at a rate. The function of the remaining segments with thickness G (G> T) is simply
Complete the electrical circuit.
The TF machine has no access to the inner part, so the inner stator
It is difficult to remove the heat generated by the core flux guide 10,
Therefore, there is a defect that the efficiency is reduced and the power output is reduced.

Double salient pole magnet flux magnet developed based on FEM (Finite Element Modeling)
Use a linear model of the electric machine to study machine performance and explore possible control strategies
Can be The assumptions for this linear model are: (1) Variation in inductance
(2) The inductance is independent of the current level.
That is. The double salient pole axial flux magnet generator shown in FIG.
An electric circuit equivalent to the linear model is derived as follows.
In the above formula,
ua= Terminal voltage of phase A
Ub= Phase B terminal voltage
ia= Phase A phase current
ib= Phase B phase current
ra= Phase A resistance
rb= Phase B resistance
λa= Phase A armature reaction flux link
λb= Phase B armature reaction flux link
Further, the following equation is established.
In the above formula,
Ψma= Permanent magnet flux linked by phase A
Ψmb= Permanent magnet flux linked by phase B
Further, the following equation is established.
λa= Laa× ia+ Mba× ib
λb= Mab× ia+ Lbb× ib
In the above formula,
Mab= Mutual inductance between phase A and phase B (linked by phase B
Value obtained by dividing the applied magnetic flux by the excitation current of phase A)
Mba= Mutual inductance between phase A and phase B (linked by phase A
Value obtained by dividing the applied magnetic flux by the phase B excitation current)
From the above, the following equation holds.
In the above formula,
qr= Mechanical rotor rotation
wr= Rotor angular velocity
This set of equations is schematically represented in FIG. 13, where FIG.
Is applied.
ema= Induced voltage of phase A generated by permanent magnet magnetic flux fluctuation
emb= Induction voltage of phase B generated by permanent magnet magnetic flux fluctuation
era= Relaxation of phase A generated by variation of self inductance of phase A
Closed voltage
erb= Phase B relaxation generated by variation of phase B self inductance
Closed voltage
erma= Generated by the variation of the mutual inductance between phase A and phase B
Phase A reluctance voltage
ermb= Generated by the variation of the mutual inductance between phase A and phase B
Phase B reluctance voltage
Laa= Self inductance of phase A
Lbb= Self inductance of phase B
Mab= Mutual inductance between phase A and phase B
The torque is given by:
ema× ia+ Emb× ib= Ωr(Tma+ Tmb)
In the above formula,
Tma= Ia× dΨma/ Dθr= Mechanical torque generated by phase A
Tmb= Ib× dΨmb/ Dθr= Mechanical torque generated by phase B
Under normal operating conditions, the self-reluctance torque of phase A and phase B is
, Cancel each other out as shown in FIG. Zero mutual reluctance torque
Has an average value. Results of the double air gap structure of a double salient pole axial flux magnet generator
Because the variation in mutual inductance is relatively small, the peak reluctance
The torque is small. As a result, the torque generation is very smooth.
Use self-reluctance torque when machine speed is higher than rated
However, by using the control scheme shown in FIG.
Current loss can be compensated for. Therefore, a double salient pole axial flux magnet
The generator can operate at higher speeds than known magnet generators. Fast but also mutual
Reluctance still contributes to zero average torque.
The nonlinear model of a double salient axial flux magnet generator is λaAnd λbIs as follows
Can be obtained as defined in
λa= F (θr, Ia, Ib)
λb= F (θr, Ia, Ib)
Since the stator 100 and the stator 104 have the same shape, the phase A winding and the phase
The reluctance appearing in the B winding is equal and an electromagnetic balance is established between the two phases.
The theory of the electromagnetic balance of the two phases is that circulating currents, bearing currents, and uneven loads on the rotor
And thus increase the efficiency and reliability of the machine.
is there.
As shown in FIG. 16, between the rotor 102 and the pole 110 of the stator 100,
There is an air gap 130 (outline is shown in dotted lines). Similarly, the rotor

130 and 132 are possible, and therefore the manufacturing cost of physically large machines
Is reduced. Such machines can accommodate a large number of poles and have low rotor speeds
Can have high power in degrees. Also, due to the axial configuration described above, the rotor 1
02 radially expands air gaps 130 and 132 at high rotor speeds.
And the smooth shape of the rotor 102 causes the
High speed operation coupled with reduced age (loss due to air friction)
Additional advantages are provided.
Further, in order to generate high torque, the slot depth DsNot coil 12

Flux leakage is minimized. As discussed in detail in the following sections of this specification,
Slot depth DsMinimize slot flux leakage.
The operation of the above-described embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. Low

. The magnetic flux distribution at 5 ° is shown in FIG. 20, FIG. 21, FIG.
This is shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. Phase A winding corresponding to 0 ° to 180 ° mechanical rotation
