Abstract

PURPOSE: To product leakage around legs by providing a diaper with an absorptive chassis, elastic side panels and a leakage prevention belt around legs. CONSTITUTION: The absorptive chassis 30 having a rectangular shape is equipped with a liquid permeable top sheet put aside the body, a liquid impermeable back sheet and an absorptive core to absorb liquid excreta from the body. Elastic side panels 5 extend out from both sides lengthwise to the shorter rim direction of the absorptive chassis 30 respectively on its front waist area and rear waist area equipped with expansion and contraction free pair of elastic side panel means 10. Leakage prevention belt around legs 80 is processed covering the whole crotch area, say, the front waist area and the rear waist area having the crotch area between them. This constitution makes it possible to prevent leakage around the legs.

2. Description of the Related Art Pant-type diapers have become popular and are used especially for infants during toilet-traning. In the past, pant diapers can be elastically stretched using elastic elements placed in the pant diaper so that the waist and leg spaces are at least partially wrapped with an elasticizing band. It was like this. This method of using elastic elements is described in Repke et al., US Pat. No. 4,205,6.

Yet another method of making elastic members is US Patent Application No. 07 / 662536,07 / 662537.
And 07/662543, each of which was filed on February 28, 1991, with Procter and Gamble Company as the applicant. These references describe making elasticized laminates by mechanically stretching an unstretched stretch laminate web to impart elasticity in the stretch direction to at least the point of initial stretch. The stretchable, non-elastic nonwoven is first bonded to the liquid impermeable elastic layer in its relaxed state to form a laminated web. The laminated web is then fed between a pair of opposed pressure applicators, preferably applicators having three-dimensional surfaces that are oriented to varying degrees relative to each other, to provide increased mechanical stretching (or desired). Such non-uniform or subsequent mechanical stretching, whereby the stretchable nonwoven is permanently stretched in the direction of stretching. When mechanical stretching is removed, the elastic layer causes the laminate to substantially return to its pre-stretched shape and dimensions, thereby elastically stretching the non-elastomeric laminate in the direction of initial stretching. .

As described above, the pants-type diaper has the above-mentioned lateral extension panel, that is, the elastic side panel, and therefore the absorbent chassis including the absorbent core has a substantially rectangular shape. . further,
In order to substantially function the functions of the elastic side panels provided on both sides of the rectangular absorbent chassis, the side flaps of the absorbent chassis, that is, the flexible parts on both sides of the absorbent core, for example, the sides of the absorbent core, are used. It is difficult to make the extended back sheet wide. This is because, if the side flaps are configured to be wide, for example, the width of the elastic side panel becomes short, the required amount of expansion and contraction cannot be obtained, and the elastic side panel is not positioned in the necessary area. Because of this, the side flaps become narrower, and therefore it is difficult to realize a configuration in which the leg flap leakage prevention structure is directly incorporated into the side flaps.

FIG. 7 shows a cross-sectional view of the leg leakage prevention band 80. The training pants of the embodiment have an inward elasticized barrier leg cuff 55 and a leg leakage prevention band 8 as a leakage prevention structure.
With 0 and. Although the leg leakage prevention band 80 may be configured separately from the inward elasticized barrier leg cuff 55, the preferred embodiment here is the leg leakage prevention band 80 and the inward elasticized barrier leg cuff 55. The structure of the training pants having the leakproof structure integrally formed will be described. This leakproof structure has a breathable breathable sheet 81.
And a plurality of elastic strips 83, 85, 87, which are elastic in the longitudinal direction, here three elastic strips. The wide breathable sheet 81 extends over both the inside and the outside of the side of the absorbent core 31. The edge of the breathable sheet 81 extending inward is folded back to the absorbent core 31 side, and one elastic strip 83 is included between the folded piece 89 and the folded piece 89 in a state of being stretched in the longitudinal direction in advance. Preferably, in the cuff 55, the end portion of the folded piece 89 of the breathable sheet 81 is joined to the breathable sheet 81 itself by an adhesive agent or the like to form the tubular portion 9.
The elastic strip 83 is provided in the tubular portion 91 of the breathable sheet 81 at least in the crotch region 45, and a free state in which the movement of the elastic strip 83 does not restrict the breathable sheet 81 is obtained. The front waist region 40 of the inward elasticized barrier leg cuff 55
In the portion located in the rear waist region 41, the elastic strip 83 is adhered to the breathable sheet of the tubular portion 91, and the inward elasticized barrier leg cuff 55 is attached to the top sheet 33 by various adhesives or the like. It is fixed by the method. On the other hand, the breathable sheet 81 that constitutes the inward elasticized barrier leg cuff 55 extends toward the outer side of the short side of the absorbent chassis 30, and the extended portion is widely folded back toward the elastic side panel element 10 side. The leg leakage preventing band 80 is composed of the folded piece 93 and the two elastic strips 85 and 87 sandwiched therebetween. Surrounding leakproof zone 80
The two elastic strips 85 and 87 are fixed to the breathable sheet itself with an adhesive or the like in a state in which the two elastic strips 85 and 87 are preliminarily extended over substantially the entire longitudinal direction. The folding piece 93 is
A configuration folded back to the wearer side (opposite to the side panel element 10 side) is also conceivable. The breathable sheet 81 positioned between the leg leakage prevention band 80 and the inward elasticized barrier leg cuff 55 is a back sheet that is slightly wider than the top sheet 30 from the longitudinal edge portion 30a of the top sheet 33. The edges 32a of 32 are joined by an adhesive or the like. Since the elastic side panel element 10 is bonded to the edge portion 32a of the back sheet 32 in the front waist region 40 and the rear waist region 41 with an adhesive or the like (described in detail later), the ventilation sheet 81 has the elastic side panel element. 10
Is bonded to the upper surface of the adhesive with an adhesive or the like. The portions of the leg leakage prevention band 80 located in the front waist region 40 and the rear waist region 41 are such that the corresponding portions of the inward elasticized barrier leg cuffs 55 are tacked down, that is, joined to the top sheet 33. It may be configured to be tacked down to the side or tacked down to the elastic side panel element 10. As a preferred embodiment, in the configuration of the present drawing, the corresponding portion of the leg leakage prevention band 80 is a free end that does not tuck down.

In the present invention, mechanically stretched regions 15 and unstretched regions 20 alternate along the width of the web. The width of the region 15 to be mechanically stretched (indicated by X) is similar to the desired waist opening of the training pants and the elasticity of the stretched laminate, as well as to the individual side elasticizing members 10.
Selection is made based on the degree to which the processed web 14 is cut after stretching. For example, the processed web 14 is
For example, with a knife, cut along its width proximate to the center of each of the non-mechanically stretched regions 20. Next, as shown in FIG. 4, the individual widths of each of the processed laminates are:
A first side elasticizing member 10a for attachment to the absorbent chassis, cut substantially in half at the center of the mechanically stretched region and cut into individual lengths L along the length of the web. Form a set of second side elasticizing members 10b to form side seams. Depending on the size of the pants-type diaper being made, the width X can be 60-140 mm. For example,
For an L size pant diaper intended for use by an infant weighing 9-14 kg, the width X is about 70-100 mm, more preferably 74-90 mm, and in a particularly preferred embodiment the width X is about 85 mm. is there. Thus, after cutting into individual lengths of web approximately in the center of region X, the width of the elasticized laminate portion 16 of the individual side elasticizing members in this embodiment will be about 30-70 mm. In the above L size pants-type diaper, the width X is about 35 to 50 mm, and more preferably,
It is 37 to 45 mm, specifically about 42.5 mm.

The absorbent core 31 is generally compressible, conformable, non-irritating to the wearer's skin, and capable of absorbing and retaining liquids such as urine and certain other body exudates. Any absorbent means may be used. The absorbent core has a garment surface, a body surface, side edges and a waist edge. Absorbent cores come in a variety of sizes and shapes (eg, rectangular, hourglass,
"T" shape, asymmetrical shape, etc.), but also of various liquid absorbent materials commonly used in disposable diapers and other absorbent articles, such as ground wood pulp, commonly referred to as airfelt. it can. Examples of other suitable absorbent materials include wrinkled cellulosic cotton wadding, meltblown polymers containing crosslinked cellulosic fibers, tissue papers including leaflet packaging and leaflet laminates, absorbent foams, absorbent sponges, and There is an absorbent polymer, absorbent gelling material, or equivalent material or combination thereof. The shape or structure of the absorbent core can also be varied (e.g., the absorbent core may have various thickness zones, hydrophilic gradients, superabsorbent gradients, or low average densities and low average basis weight acquisition zones, It may include one or more layers or structures). However, the total absorbent capacity of the absorbent core should match the design load and intended use of the diaper. Further, the size and absorbent capacity of the absorbent core can be varied to accommodate wearers from infants to adults.

The acquisition / distribution core rapidly collects body fluids,
It serves to quickly transport the liquid from the initial contact point of the acquisition / dispensing wick to other parts and temporarily hold such excreted body fluid until it is absorbed by the storage wick. The distribution function of the acquisition / dispensing wick is particularly important in order to more fully utilize the capacity of the storage wick. Thus, the acquisition / distribution wick may comprise various absorbent materials, but rapidly transports the bodily fluid so that the acquisition / distribution wick can effectively acquire and distribute the subsequent excretion of the bodily fluid. It is preferable to utilize a minimal amount (less than 2%) of superabsorbent material, which comprises a fibrous material that can be wetted and does not disintegrate when wet (due to slow uptake and gel blocking).

Finally, the absorbent chassis 30 to which the elasticizing member 10 is attached is mechanically bent in the vicinity of the longitudinal center 42 so that the body side surface 34 of the front waist portion 40 approaches the body side surface of the rear waist portion 41. Then, the surface of the outer edge portion 51 of the opposing elasticizing member 10 attached to the front and rear waist portions facing the body side is joined with a seal 52 to form the elasticizing side panel 5,
The pants-type diaper is completed. The seal 52 can be parallel to the longitudinal sides 35 of the absorbent chassis or can be slightly angled as shown in FIG. The seal 52 is preferably as thin as possible to minimize the width of the formed side seam 50. A preferred seal is a pressure bond seal joining the elastic layers 13 at each outer edge 51 of the laminate. In the preferred method, the seal 52 is made by passing the outer edge between a rotating anvil roll and a rotating press roll that applies a typical pressure of about 1500 to 5,000 Kg / cm 2 onto the lamina, and generally 1 to Form a line of the seal 52 having a width of 10 mm, preferably 2-5 mm. Preferably, temperatures below 80 ° C. are used. Most preferably, the anvil and pressure roll are operated at ambient temperature. Higher temperatures may also be used as long as they are well below the thermoplastic melting temperature of the material of the elastic layer, and as long as the elastic layer itself is not damaged or weakened at such temperatures. In this way, the pressure, temperature, mode of joining and duration of application of the sealing means are selected to optimize the joining of the polymeric material of the laminate or its respective elasticizing layers without degrading its constituents.
