Carbon nanotubes (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “CNT”) are new materials that are attracting attention from many fields because they have excellent properties such as conductivity, thermal conductivity, and mechanical strength. is there. In general, CNTs are synthesized by placing carbon or a raw material containing carbon under high temperature conditions in the presence of a catalyst as necessary. As main production methods, an arc discharge method, a laser evaporation method, and a chemical vapor deposition method are known. Among these, the chemical vapor deposition method (that is, the CVD method) synthesizes CNTs by thermally decomposing a raw material containing carbon (carbon source). Patent Documents 1 to 3 are cited as prior art documents relating to the production of CNTs by the CVD method. Patent Document 1 relates to a technique for producing CNTs by a fluidized bed using a catalyst / fluidizer. Patent Document 2 relates to a technique for synthesizing CNTs by fluidizing a solid catalyst by bringing the solid catalyst into contact with a carbon-containing gas in the presence of a fluidizing agent.
Here, it would be useful if a technique for producing CNTs more effectively using the CVD method is provided. An object of the present invention is to provide a CNT manufacturing apparatus capable of solving such a problem. Another object of the present invention is to provide a CNT manufacturing method that can solve the above-mentioned problems.
According to the present invention, there is provided a CNT manufacturing apparatus in which a carbon source is brought into contact with catalyst powder to thermally decompose the carbon source to generate CNTs. The apparatus is arranged so that a shaft is turned sideways and inclined so that the other end side (downstream side) is lower than the one end side (upstream side) of the shaft, and a cylindrical body rotatable around the axis is provided. Prepare. The apparatus also includes a catalyst supply unit that supplies catalyst powder to the chamber from a catalyst supply port that opens to the chamber formed inside the cylinder.
The apparatus further includes a carbon source supply unit that supplies a vapor of the carbon source to the chamber from a carbon source supply port that opens to the chamber. In addition, a heater capable of heating a reaction zone set in at least a partial range in the axial direction of the chamber to a temperature at which carbon nanotubes are generated is provided. Furthermore, a gas supply unit configured to be able to supply a non-oxidizing gas to the chamber from a first gas supply port disposed upstream of the reaction zone and a second gas supply port disposed downstream of the reaction zone. Is provided. And the gas discharge part comprised so that the gas in the said chamber could be discharged | emitted from the gas vent provided in the said reaction zone or its vicinity is provided.
Here, the carbon source supply port and the catalyst supply port are respectively arranged in the upstream region of the reaction zone or in the vicinity of the upstream side thereof, and the gas vent is in the downstream region of the reaction zone or in the vicinity of the downstream side thereof. Is arranged. In addition, a plurality of convex portions that limit movement of the catalyst powder in the circumferential direction along the inner peripheral wall extend in the axial direction of the cylindrical body on the inner peripheral wall of the cylindrical body facing the reaction zone. The cylindrical body is provided at intervals in the circumferential direction . Then, by rotating the cylindrical body around the axis, the catalyst powder on the inner peripheral wall is hooked on the convex portion and lifted together with the convex portion, and then the lifted catalyst powder is released from the hook and the The catalyst powder falls in the internal space of the chamber, and the catalyst powder moves from the upstream side to the downstream side while repeating such lifting and dropping.
Here, the “carbon nanotube (CNT)” refers to a tubular carbon allotrope (typically a cylindrical structure having a graphite structure), and is not limited to a special form (length or diameter). So-called single-walled CNTs, multi-walled CNTs, or carbon nanohorns having a square tube tip are typical examples included in the concept of CNT here.
According to such an apparatus, the carbon source vapor can be effectively brought into contact with the catalyst powder by repeating the operation of lifting and dropping the catalyst powder using the convex portion. Therefore, CNT (typically mainly multi-walled CNT) can be efficiently generated from the carbon source vapor. In addition, the catalyst powder gradually moves to the downstream side while repeating the lifting and dropping, and typically the constituent particles of the catalyst powder are gradually covered with the product (CNT). Therefore, by collecting the catalyst powder supplied from the upstream side together with the generated CNTs on the downstream side, CNTs can be continuously produced. That is, the apparatus having the above configuration is suitable for continuous production of CNTs.
The convex portion that is formed in the ridge shape extending in the axial direction of the cylindrical body. According to the apparatus having such a configuration, it is possible to appropriately prevent the catalyst powder from moving in the circumferential direction of the cylinder and effectively lift and drop the catalyst powder. Therefore, the contact efficiency between the catalyst powder and the carbon source vapor (and thus the CNT production efficiency, for example, the yield) can be further increased. Such ridge-shaped convex portions at intervals in the circumferential direction of the cylinder (typically at approximately equal intervals) that have been plurality.
Wherein the carbon source supply port is disposed in or near the reaction zone (region that is heated to a temperature at which CNT is produced when the carbon source vapor is supplied from the CNT production, that is, when the said supply opening), usually More preferably, the carbon source supply port is disposed in the reaction zone. Thus, by setting it as the structure by which carbon source vapor | steam is directly supplied to a high temperature area | region, CNT can be more efficiently produced | generated from this carbon source vapor | steam. In addition, when a liquid or solid material at room temperature is used as the carbon source, condensation and sublimation (precipitation of solid) of the carbon source vapor is unlikely to occur. Therefore, the carbon source is preferably used for the production of CNTs using the carbon source. Can be done. In particular, it is useful as an apparatus for producing CNTs using a solid material (for example, camphor) at room temperature as the carbon source.
In a preferred aspect of the apparatus disclosed herein, the carbon source supply section extends in the reaction zone and is connected to the carbon source supply port (preferably disposed at or near the reaction zone). A source introduction tube is provided. According to this configuration, the heat of the reaction zone is transmitted from the carbon source supply port through the wall surface of the carbon source introduction pipe to the carbon source vapor in the introduction pipe, thereby stably maintaining the carbon source vapor in a gaseous state ( For example, it is possible to prevent clogging of the introduction pipe and increase in gas flow resistance due to liquefaction or solidification of the carbon source vapor in the carbon source introduction pipe. This is advantageous for continuous operation of the apparatus (that is, continuous production of CNT). For example, CNT can be appropriately manufactured over a longer period of time. When a material that is liquid or solid at room temperature (particularly, a material that is solid at room temperature, such as camphor) is used as the carbon source, the effect of adopting the above configuration can be exhibited particularly well.
As described above, the apparatus disclosed herein is non-oxidizing to the chamber from the first gas supply port disposed upstream of the reaction zone and the second gas supply port disposed downstream of the reaction zone. obtain Bei gas supply unit that is configured to be able to supply gas. Moreover, further comprising a pre-Symbol reaction zone or gas discharge section that is configured to be able to discharge the gas in the chamber from the arrangement gas vent port in the vicinity. According to such a configuration, the gas flow from the first and second gas supply ports is sent into the chamber and the surplus gas is discharged from the degassing port, so that the carbon source vapor sent from the carbon source supply port spreads (position). ) Can be controlled. For example, by keeping the carbon source vapor better in the reaction zone (that is, suppressing diffusion to the upstream or downstream side of the reaction zone), CNT can be generated more efficiently from the carbon source vapor. Moreover, according to the apparatus of the said structure, the event that the said carbon source vapor | steam condenses or sublimes out of the reaction zone can be prevented. This is particularly advantageous when a material that is liquid or solid at room temperature (particularly a material that is solid at room temperature, such as camphor) is used as the carbon source.
In the apparatus disclosed herein, as described above, the carbon source supply port and the catalyst supply port are respectively disposed in the upstream region or in the vicinity of the upstream side of the reaction zone, and the gas vent port is provided in the reaction zone. It is arrange | positioned in the downstream area of those, or its downstream vicinity. According to this configuration, while the carbon source vapor supplied from the upstream carbon source supply port moves from the upstream side of the reaction zone to the downstream side in the same manner, The catalyst powder, which is lifted along the inner wall and falls through the air, is repeatedly contacted with the carbon source vapor. This makes it possible to produce CNTs efficiently (for example, in high yield) from the carbon source vapor.
As another configuration example, for example, the catalyst supply port and the degassing port are respectively arranged in the upstream region of the reaction zone or in the vicinity of the upstream side, and the carbon source supply port is in the reaction zone. The structure arrange | positioned in the downstream area or the downstream vicinity is mentioned.
According to the present invention, there is also provided a CNT manufacturing method in which a carbon source vapor is brought into contact with a catalyst powder to thermally decompose the carbon source vapor to produce CNTs. In the method, the contact between the catalyst powder and the carbon source vapor is formed inside a cylindrical body disposed so as to be inclined so that the downstream side which is the other end side is lower than the upstream side which is the one end side of the shaft. In the reaction zone set in at least a partial range in the axial direction of the chamber, the carbon source and the catalyst powder are respectively supplied to the chamber from the upstream region of the reaction zone or the vicinity of the upstream side, and the reaction zone The non-oxidizing gas is supplied to the chamber from upstream and downstream from the reaction zone, and the gas in the chamber is discharged from the downstream region of the reaction zone or the vicinity of the downstream side. . In addition, a plurality of convex portions are provided on the inner peripheral wall of the cylindrical body facing the reaction zone in the form of a bowl extending in the axial direction of the cylindrical body at intervals in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical body . Then, by rotating the cylindrical body around the axis, the catalyst powder on the inner peripheral wall is hooked on the convex portion and lifted, and the lifted catalyst powder is moved into the carbon source vapor in the internal space of the chamber. The catalyst powder is moved from the upstream side to the downstream side while being repeatedly dropped while being brought into contact with the atmosphere containing the catalyst.
According to such a method, the carbon source vapor can be effectively brought into contact with the catalyst powder by repeatedly lifting and dropping the catalyst powder using the convex portions. That is, the manufacturing method is suitable for continuous production of CNTs.
In a preferred embodiment of the method disclosed herein, the carbon source vapor is fed directly into the reaction zone. Then, by supplying a non-oxidizing gas to the chamber from a position upstream and downstream of the reaction zone and exhausting the gas from the reaction zone or the vicinity thereof, the carbon source vapor is more than the reaction zone. Prevents outflow (diffusion) to the upstream side or downstream side. According to such a method, since the carbon source vapor and the catalyst powder can be more effectively brought into contact in the reaction zone, CNTs can be generated more efficiently (for example, in a high yield). Moreover, according to the said method, the event that the said carbon source vapor | steam condenses or sublimes out of the reaction zone can be prevented. This is particularly advantageous when CNTs are produced using a liquid or solid material at room temperature (particularly a material solid at room temperature, such as camphor) as the carbon source.
In any one of the CNT manufacturing apparatuses or manufacturing methods disclosed herein (which may be a manufacturing method using the above apparatus), a catalyst metal source is applied to a powdery support (for example, zeolite powder) as the catalyst powder. Then, a catalyst powder formed by heat treatment at 150 ° C. or higher can be preferably used. Such a catalyst powder is preferable because it is excellent in handleability (for example, handleability when supplying the powder to the chamber). In any of the CNT manufacturing apparatuses or manufacturing methods disclosed herein (which may be a manufacturing method using the above apparatus), a solid material (for example, camphor) at room temperature is preferably used as the carbon source. Can do.

In addition, in the example shown in FIG. 2, although the
The cross-sectional shape of the
Although not particularly limited, the height of the
As a constituent material of the

The carbon
As shown in FIG. 4, a through hole functioning as a carbon

As the carbon source in the technology disclosed herein, various carbon (C) -containing materials capable of generating CNTs by a CVD method can be used. A carbon source that takes any form of gas, liquid, and solid at room temperature (25 ° C.) can be used. For example, carbon-containing gases such as carbon monoxide; saturated hydrocarbons such as methane, ethane, propane, and butane; unsaturated hydrocarbons including one or more double bonds in one molecule such as ethylene, propylene, butene, and isobutene; Unsaturated hydrocarbons containing one or more triple bonds in one molecule such as acetylene; aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, xylene and naphthalene; alcohols such as methanol and ethanol; camphor; mixtures thereof; Can be used as The use of a carbon source with a high carbon content is preferred. The technology disclosed herein can be preferably applied to the production of CNTs using a liquid or solid carbon source at room temperature. When using a carbon source that is solid at room temperature (for example, a solid having sublimation properties), the application effect of the present invention can be exhibited particularly well. For example, camphor, naphthalene, etc. can be preferably used as a carbon source.
A particularly preferred carbon source for the present invention is camphor (C 10 H 16 O). Camellia can be easily obtained from plants (ie, available without relying on fossil fuels). Therefore, the use of camphor as a carbon source is expected to reduce the environmental burden compared to the case of using petroleum products (acetylene, benzene, etc.) as the carbon source. Of course, the camphor used in the production of CNTs to which the technology disclosed herein is applied, regardless of whether it is derived from a natural product (natural camphor) or a synthetic product (synthetic camphor), can be used in combination. Good. Any d-camphor, dl- or l-form camphor can be used. Only one of these isomers may be used, or a mixture of two or more isomers may be used. From the viewpoint of availability, etc., it is usually preferable to use mainly dl-camphor. As the carbon source in the production of CNTs by the apparatus or method of the present invention, a carbon source mainly containing camphor can be preferably used, and the carbon source may contain components other than camphor. It is preferable to use camphor having a purity of 90% by mass or more as a carbon source (that is, using a carbon source having a camphor component of 90% by mass or more). The use of camphor with a purity of 95% by mass is more preferred.
As the catalyst powder P in the technology disclosed herein, the catalyst powder P is preferably used in the form in which a catalyst metal is supported on a powdery support since it is suitable for lifting and dropping by the
例えば、平均粒子径が凡そ0.1μm〜100μm(より好ましくは凡そ0.5μm〜10μm、例えば凡そ1μm〜2μm)の粉末状の支持体を好ましく使用することができる。 The support for holding the catalyst metal is not particularly limited as long as the material is stable at the CVD temperature (atmospheric temperature when the carbon source is thermally decomposed in the presence of the catalyst, that is, the temperature in the reaction zone 12). can do. Preferable examples of the material constituting the support include alumina, silica, zeolite, magnesia, titania, zirconia, activated carbon and the like. The use of an inorganic porous material such as zeolite or silica gel is particularly preferable because it is suitable for supporting a catalytic metal and can efficiently grow CNTs. For example, a zeolite having a BET specific surface area of about 400 to 800 m 2 / g can be preferably used. Among these, high silica type zeolite is preferable. For example, a zeolite having a SiO 2 / Al 2 O 3 ratio of 10 or more (Si / Al ratio of 5 or more) is preferable, and a SiO 2 / Al 2 O 3 ratio of 100 or more (Si / Al ratio of 50). The above is more preferable. More preferably, the SiO 2 / Al 2 O 3 ratio is 200 or more (Si / Al ratio is 100 or more, for example, approximately 200). For example, a powdery support having an average particle size of about 0.1 μm to 100 μm (more preferably about 0.5 μm to 10 μm, for example, about 1 μm to 2 μm) can be preferably used.
Hereinafter, although the case where a camphor is used as a carbon source is demonstrated concretely about the suitable form which manufactures CNT using the apparatus of the said structure, it is not the intention which limits the carbon source in this invention to camphor.
As the catalyst powder P, a catalyst body in which the above catalyst metal is supported on the above-described support (preferably, a high silica type Y-type zeolite) can be used. Such a catalyst body is, for example, a compound containing a catalyst metal to be used as a constituent element and capable of producing a simple substance of the metal by heating (a salt of the metal, etc., hereinafter sometimes referred to as “catalyst metal source”). It is obtained by applying to a support. In the case of a catalyst body having two or more kinds of catalyst metals, a catalyst metal source corresponding to each catalyst metal may be used, or a catalyst metal source containing two or more kinds of catalyst metals may be used. After applying such a catalyst metal source to the support, the catalyst metal is supported in the form of a simple substance or an alloy by heating the catalyst body as necessary (preferably in a non-oxidizing atmosphere). The obtained catalyst body can be obtained. The heating temperature at this time can be, for example, about 150 ° C. or higher (typically about 150 to 300 ° C.), and is usually preferably about 200 ° C. or higher (for example, about 200 to 250 ° C.). Thereby, the handleability of the catalyst powder (catalyst body) can be improved. For example, the hygroscopicity of the catalyst powder can be reduced, and problems such as clogging of the introduction path can be better prevented when the powder is fed into the chamber through a catalyst powder introduction path such as a screw feeder. Further, the aggregation of the catalyst powder can be prevented to a higher degree, and the catalyst powder can be brought into contact with the carbon source vapor more effectively (as a result, CNT can be generated more efficiently).
Preferred catalytic metal sources include acetate, nitrate, chloride, sulphate, acetyl acetonat, metallocene (ferrocene,) of the corresponding catalyst metal. cobaltcene, nickelocene, etc.), metal phthalocyanine (Fe-phthalocyanine, Co-phthalocyanine, Ni-phthalocyanine, etc.), Iron pentacarbonyl (Fe (CO 5 )), and the like.
The concept of "catalyst body" here includes one having a single type of catalytic metal, one having a plurality of types of catalytic metals as a single unit, one having a plurality of types of catalytic metals as their alloys, etc. In addition, at least a part of one or more kinds of catalytic metals is supported in the form of a catalytic metal source (for example, a salt of the catalytic metal) or a compound obtained by partially decomposing the catalytic metal source. Can also be included.
As a method for applying the catalyst metal source to the support, a conventionally known method can be appropriately employed. One preferred application method involves preparing a catalyst metal source solution by dissolving one or more catalyst metal sources in a suitable solvent. The type and amount of the catalyst metal source used for the preparation of the solution can be determined according to the composition ratio of the catalyst metal of the target catalyst body. For example, in the case of producing a catalyst body having Fe and Co as catalytic metals, iron (II) acetate ((CH 3 COO) 2 Fe, hereinafter sometimes referred to as “IA”) is used as the Fe source. In the case of using cobalt acetate tetrahydrate ((CH 3 COO) 2 Co.4H 2 O, hereinafter sometimes referred to as “CA”) as the Co source, these catalytic metal sources are used as IA. A catalyst source solution having Fe and Co in a molar ratio of approximately 1: 0.7 can be prepared by dissolving in a suitable solvent (for example, water) at a mass ratio of: CA = 1: 1.
Next, the support is impregnated with the catalyst metal source solution thus prepared. For example, a powdery support is added to the solution and dispersed. In order to appropriately perform such dispersion, ultrasonic vibration may be applied. The amount of the support added at this time may be determined according to the catalyst metal concentration in the target catalyst body (that is, the mass ratio of the catalyst metal to the total mass of the support and the catalyst metal). Then, the catalyst body by which the catalyst metal source was carry | supported by the support body can be obtained by removing a solvent. As a method for removing the solvent, for example, a method of drying at normal pressure under heating conditions as necessary, a method of evaporating the solvent (for example, water) in a frozen state (lyophilization method), etc. are preferable. Can be adopted. The method for applying the catalyst metal source solution to the support is not limited to this. For example, a conventionally known method such as a method of spraying the solution onto a support can be used without particular limitation. Moreover, the solvent used for preparation of a catalyst metal source solution should just be a thing which dissolves the catalyst metal source to be used well, and is not specifically limited. From the viewpoint of easy removal of the solvent, a solvent that can be easily vaporized in a temperature range of about 40 to 100 ° C. at normal pressure is preferable. For example, one type of solvent selected from water, lower alcohols (methanol, ethanol, propanol, etc.), acetone, tetrahydrofuran and the like, or two or more types of mixed solvents can be preferably used.
The ratio (catalyst concentration (mass%)) of the catalyst metal in the total mass of the catalyst metal (in terms of metal atoms) and the support in the catalyst body is not particularly limited. For example, a catalyst body having a catalyst concentration in the range of about 1 to 70% by mass can be used. It is preferable to use a catalyst body having a catalyst concentration in the range of about 20% to 60% (preferably about 25% to 55%, more preferably about 30% to 50%, particularly preferably about 35% to 45%). . If the catalyst metal concentration is too lower than the above range, the production efficiency of CNT (eg, yield per unit time, yield per mass of catalyst metal, yield relative to the mass of camphor used) tends to decrease. There is. On the other hand, when the catalyst metal concentration is too higher than the above range, the utilization efficiency of the catalyst metal tends to decrease, and as a result, the CNT yield per mass of the catalyst metal may tend to decrease.
When Fe and Co are used as catalyst metals, the ratio of Fe and Co contained in the catalyst body is, for example, IA: CA in terms of iron (II) acetate (IA) and cobalt acetate tetrahydrate (CA), respectively. The mass ratio can be set to a range of approximately 75:25 to 20:80. The mass ratio is preferably in the range of about 60:40 to 40:60, and more preferably in the range of about 55:45 to 45:55 (for example, about 50:50). Even when a compound (for example, iron nitrate) other than iron (II) acetate is used as the Fe source, the mass ratio of IA: CA when the amount of Fe contained in the Fe source is converted to IA is within the above range. It is preferable.

Although not particularly limited, the supply rate of camphor steam and catalyst powder (catalyst body) is, for example, for 1 g of camphor steam (that is, camphor steam obtained by vaporizing 1 g of camphor) and the support and the catalyst powder. The total mass of the catalyst metal source (for example, iron nitrate and CA) applied to the support is, for example, in the range of about 0.02 g to 1 g (preferably in the range of about 0.01 g to 0.5 g, for example, about 1/8 g. ) Can be set to be supplied to the
As the carrier gas supplied to the

While supplying the catalyst powder P and the camphor vapor V from the

According to the preferred embodiment of the CNT production method disclosed herein, a yield of about 50% or more (or more than about 70% or more) is realized based on the mass of carbon atoms contained in the carbon source to be used (camphor). obtain. According to a more preferred embodiment, a yield of about 85% or more (eg, about 90% or more, typically 90-99.9%) can be achieved. In other words, the above proportion of the mass of carbon atoms contained in the carbon source can be converted to CNT (typically multi-walled CNT). In addition, the mass of the catalyst powder P supplied to the
The CNT-attached catalyst powder typically has a configuration in which particles constituting the catalyst powder (preferably zeolite particles) are covered with a carbonaceous product containing CNTs. According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a catalyst powder with CNT in which most of the carbon contained in the carbonaceous product forms CNT (that is, the content of amorphous carbon is small). According to a preferred embodiment, the carbonaceous product is substantially free of amorphous carbon (for example, CNT is about 90% by mass or more, preferably 95% by mass or more of the carbonaceous product). Can be manufactured. It can be confirmed, for example, by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) that most of the carbonaceous product forms CNTs.
Hereinafter, although one Example regarding this invention is described, it is not the intention which limits this invention to what is shown to this specific manufacture example.
[Preparation of carbon source]
As the carbon source, camphor (purity 96%) manufactured by Shimada Chemicals Co., Ltd. was used in the form of powder having a particle size of 1 to 100 μm. In this example, 1568 g of camphor was used.
[Preparation of catalyst powder]
13.5 g of iron nitrate (IN) and 6 g of cobalt acetate tetrahydrate (CA) were dissolved in 300 cm 3 of water. To this aqueous solution is added 5 g of zeolite powder (product of Tosoh Corporation, Y-type zeolite, trade name “HSZ-390HUA”, cation type = H, Si / Al ratio = 200, average particle size of 1 to 2 μm) as a support. Then, after ultrasonic treatment for 10 minutes, freeze-drying and pulverization were performed to obtain a catalyst powder in which IN and CA were supported on the zeolite powder at the above mass ratio. The above operation was performed 8 times (8 batches) to prepare 196 g of catalyst powder. Subsequently, this catalyst powder was heat-treated at 230 ° C.
The camphor and heat-treated catalyst powder prepared above were supplied to the apparatus 1 according to the above embodiment to produce CNTs. The inclination angle of the
And while rotating the
The CNT catalyst powder contained a carbonaceous product and catalyst powder in a mass ratio of approximately 9: 1 (volume ratio approximately 99: 1). Further, TGA analysis confirmed that most of the carbonaceous product (about 90% by mass) was a highly conductive multi-walled CNT and contained almost no amorphous carbon. That is, according to this example, about 1.2 kg of CNT-attached catalyst powder (including about 1 kg of CNT) was produced with a yield of about 50% (based on the mass of carbon atoms) by continuous operation for 1 hour. . In addition, when each part of the apparatus 1 was inspected after the continuous operation was completed, no deposition of camphor was observed on the inner wall surface of the reactor 2, the carbon
According to the present invention, highly conductive multilayer CNTs can be produced with high purity. Such CNTs can be useful as electrode materials (active materials, conductive materials, etc.) such as batteries and capacitors. In addition to such an electrode material, the CNT obtained by applying the present invention can be suitably used, for example, as various conductivity imparting agents, rubber additives, and the like. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, CNTs are primarily produced in the form of catalyst powder with CNTs. As a method for separating CNT from the catalyst powder with CNT, for example, a method by chemical treatment (for example, by treating the catalyst powder with CNT obtained using the catalyst powder with zeolite as a support with an aqueous NaOH solution, Zeolite is dissolved and removed), a method by physical treatment such as ultrasonic vibration, and the like can be appropriately employed. Moreover, you may utilize as a CNT material with the form of the catalyst powder with CNT (that is, in the form containing catalyst powder).

The contact between the catalyst powder and the carbon source vapor is a shaft among the chambers formed inside the cylindrical body arranged to be inclined so that the downstream side which is the other end side is lower than the upstream side which is the one end side of the shaft. In the reaction zone set at least in part of the direction,
The carbon source vapor and the catalyst powder are respectively supplied to the chamber from the upstream region of the reaction zone or the vicinity of the upstream side thereof,
Supplying a non-oxidizing gas to the chamber from upstream of the reaction zone and downstream of the reaction zone; and
While discharging the gas in the chamber from the downstream region of the reaction zone or near the downstream side thereof,
A plurality of convex portions are provided on the inner peripheral wall of the cylindrical body facing the reaction zone at intervals in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical body in a bowl shape extending in the axial direction of the cylindrical body,
By rotating the cylindrical body about the axis, the catalyst powder on the inner peripheral wall is hooked on the convex portion and lifted, and the lifted catalyst powder contains the carbon source vapor in the internal space of the chamber. A method for producing carbon nanotubes, wherein the catalyst powder is moved from the upstream side to the downstream side while being repeatedly dropped while being in contact with the atmosphere.
