308,406. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Wellings, J. G. Jan. 27, 1928. Current transformers .-A current transformer for high tension circuits comprises a pair of side by side insulators 1, 2 extending into an oil container 3 each insulator enclosing two or more substantially rigid conductors 4 connected in series by links 5, 6 and forming the primary winding. A core carrying a secondary winding is housed in either or in each insulator. When the connecting links 5 are of bare copper, insulating plates 7 are provided in the bottom and also, if necessary, up the sides of the oil container to reduce the possibility of a discharge occurring between the links and the container. The primary conductors 4 may be concentrically arranged with respect to each other, the outer ones being in the form of tubes surrounding a centre one in the form of a rod. Alternatively, they may be all in the form of rods symmetrically spaced within the insulators. The cores and secondary windings may be arranged as described in Specification 286,431 to give phase-angle and ratio error correction to any desired extent. Specification 228,398 also is referred to.
