Engines working on special systems or cycles,-In a steam power plant wherein the exhaust from the engines is partially condensed and the mixture of steam and water returned to the boiler, the condenser 1 is fitted with valves 14, 15 controlling the flow of steam through tubes 5 surrounded by cooling water. The valves engage with right and left handed screw threads 18, 19 on a spindle 21 and are moved in opposite directions by turning a hand-wheel fixed on the spindle. The inlet chamber 7 is in direct communication with the outlet chamber 8 through a valve controlled pipe 9 as described in Specification 286,352.
