Abstract

A squash racket comprises a curved frame 23 extending from, and integral with, the handle 12, and an independent head 11 which is attachable to, and detachable from, the curved frame 23. Should the head 11 be damaged by striking of the racket against the wall of a squash court, only the head 11 need be replaced and not the complete racket. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Squash racket This invention relates to a squash racket, more particularly to a squash racket the head of which is detachable from a curved frame extending from the handle thereof.

As known, the squash is played in a walled court. In the limited space, the striking of the squash racket, particularly the head thereof, against the wall occurs often. For the handle and head of the conventional squash racket is integrally made, the vulnerable head once broken down, the whole squash racket is of disuse.

One object of this invention is to provide a squash racket the head of which is detachable from a curved frame extending from the handle.

Other objects, merit and a fuller understanding of the present invention will be obtained by those having ordinary skill in the art when the following detailed description of the best mode contemplated for practicing the invention is read in conjunction with accompanying drawings wherein like numerals refer to like or similar parts and in which: Fig. 1 is a front view of a preferred embodiment of this invention; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of Fig.1, dissembled and partially taken away; Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view along A-A line of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 is a front view of another preferred embodiment of this invention; Fig. 5 is a perspective view of Fig.4, dissembled and partially taken away; Fig. 6 is an enlarged view along B-B line of Fig.4; Fig. 7 is a transverse sectional view along C-C line of Fig.4.

This invention relates to a squash racket, more particularly to a squash racket the head of which is detachable from a curved frame extending from the handle thereof.

As shown in Fig.1 & 2, a squash racket 10 comprises a handle 12 and a head 11, both being independent from each other before assembly. The head 11 which may be made of wood, bamboo or synthetic material is bored a plurality of string holes 42 along the circumference thereof for the stings 13 to be interlaced therethrough. At the lower portion 14 of the head 11, there are bored and threaded three screw holes 15 at a predetermined distance from one another.

The handle 12 comprises a grip 22 at the lowest position, a shaft 21 at the intermediate position and a throat 20 at the upper position and a curved frame 23 extended upward from the throat 20. The curvature of the curved frame 23 and that of the lower portion of the head 11 are corresponding to each other. The curved frame 23 is grooved a recess 25 in a predetermined width to to receive the lower portion 14 of the head 11. And at the upper opposite ends of the curved frame 23 there are respectively provided a pair of lugs 28 projected radially, one on the side wall 26 and the other on the side wall 27 thereof and each lug 28 is bored a hole 29. Along the side walls 26 & 27 beneath the lugs 28, the are bored three holes 35 corresponding to the screw holes 15.As shown in Fig.2 & 3, to secure the head 11 onto the handle 12, first insert the lower portion 14 of the head 11 within the recess 25, then put a hollow bar 31 between each pair of lugs 28 and further fasten by means a screw bolt 32 and a nut 33. Before fastening, adhering agent may be coated inside the nut 33 so as to ensure a firm bolt joint. Three pairs of screw bolts 34 are further screwed through the holes 35 and screw holes 15 to accomplish the assembly.

To detach the head 11, the necessary step is to release the screw bolts 32 & 34.

As shown in Fig.4, 5, 6 & 7 which show another preferred embodiment of this invention, at the lower portion 14 of the head 11 there are five lugs 41 projected radially, each lug 41 being provided between two string holes 42. To obtain a higher strength, each lug 41 is larger at the lower portion 43 in vincinity with the inner circumference of the head 11. As shown in Fig.7, within each lug 41 there is inserted a bar 44 which may be made of plastic, the top and bottom of the bar 44 being exposed. At the inner circumference fo the curved frame 23 there are provided five pairs of lugs 45 respectively at two side walls 26 & 27, the lugs 45 being correspondent to the lugs 41 each lug 45 is bored a hole 46. The lower portion 14 of the head 11 is received within the recess 25 of the vurved frame 23 with both sides of the lug 41 claimped by each pair of lug 45.Five fixing plates 50 which may be made of synthetic material or light metal are each bent approximately ninety degrees at both ends. At both bend portion of the fixing plate 50 there are bored two holes 51 & 52 not in alignment with each other. The fixing plate 50 is sleeved with opened end on the lug 45. Screw bolts 53 are further screwed through the holes 51, 52 and 46 into the bars 44. For the holes 51 & 52 are not in alignment with each other, the bottom ends of the screw bolts 53 will not collide each other. The hole 51 & 52 may be respectively provided a slopped shoulder 54 so that the head of the screw bolt 53 will not expose outward. The recess 25 of the head 11 may be coated with adhering agent to heighten the joining strength between the head 11 and the curved frame 23.

SPECIFICATION Squash racket This invention relates to a squash racket, more particularly to a squash racket the head of which is detachable from a curved frame extending from the handle thereof. As known, the squash is played in a walled court. In the limited space, the striking of the squash racket, particularly the head thereof, against the wall occurs often. This invention relates to a squash racket, more particularly to a squash racket the head of which is detachable from a curved frame extending from the handle thereof. As shown in Fig.1 & 2, a squash racket 10 comprises a handle 12 and a head 11, both being independent from each other before assembly. Along the side walls 26 & 27 beneath the lugs 28, the are bored three holes 35 corresponding to the screw holes 15.As shown in Fig.2 & 3, to secure the head 11 onto the handle 12, first insert the lower portion 14 of the head 11 within the recess 25, then put a hollow bar 31 between each pair of lugs 28 and further fasten by means a screw bolt 32 and a nut 33. Before fastening, adhering agent may be coated inside the nut 33 so as to ensure a firm bolt joint. Three pairs of screw bolts 34 are further screwed through the holes 35 and screw holes 15 to accomplish the assembly. To detach the head 11, the necessary step is to release the screw bolts 32 & 34. As shown in Fig.4, 5, 6 & 7 which show another preferred embodiment of this invention, at the lower portion 14 of the head 11 there are five lugs 41 projected radially, each lug 41 being provided between two string holes 42. To obtain a higher strength, each lug 41 is larger at the lower portion 43 in vincinity with the inner circumference of the head 11. As shown in Fig.7, within each lug 41 there is inserted a bar 44 which may be made of plastic, the top and bottom of the bar 44 being exposed. At the inner circumference fo the curved frame 23 there are provided five pairs of lugs 45 respectively at two side walls 26 & 27, the lugs 45 being correspondent to the lugs 41 each lug 45 is bored a hole 46. The lower portion 14 of the head 11 is received within the recess 25 of the vurved frame 23 with both sides of the lug 41 claimped by each pair of lug 45.Five fixing plates 50 which may be made of synthetic material or light metal are each bent approximately ninety degrees at both ends. At both bend portion of the fixing plate 50 there are bored two holes 51 & 52 not in alignment with each other. The fixing plate 50 is sleeved with opened end on the lug 45. Screw bolts 53 are further screwed through the holes 51, 52 and 46 into the bars 44. For the holes 51 & 52 are not in alignment with each other, the bottom ends of the screw bolts 53 will not collide each other. The hole 51 & 52 may be respectively provided a slopped shoulder 54 so that the head of the screw bolt 53 will not expose outward. The recess 25 of the head 11 may be coated with adhering agent to heighten the joining strength between the head 11 and the curved frame 23. It is to be noted that the above description aims to explain, however not to limit the concept of this invention. CLAIMS

1. A squash racket comprising A handle, A curved frame extended from said handle, and an independent head secured onto said curved frame.

2. A squash racket according to Claim 1, wherein said curved frame is provided a plurality of screw holes at the lower portion thereof and said curved frame is provided a groove to receive the lower portion of said head, said curved frame being respectively provided a pair of lugs at both ends thereof and a plurality of holes corresponding to said screw holes whereby said head once received within said recess of said head, a hollow bar is inserted within said each pair of lugs and then said head and said curved frame are fastended together by means of a plurality of screw bolts and nuts.

A squash racket according to Claim 1 wherein the lower portion of said head are provided a plurality of lugs projected radially and said curved frame is provided a plurality of lugs projected radially, said lugs of said head and said lugs of said curved frame corre sponding to on another, and a plurality of fixing plates bent at both ends each of which is bored a hole are further provided whereby said head once received within said recess, each said lug of said head is claimped by each pair of said correspondent lugs of said curved frame are secured together by means of a plurality of screw bolts.

4. A squash racket according to Claim 3 wherein said lugs of said head are larger at the portion in vincinity of the inner circumference of said head.

5. A squash racket according to Claim 3 & BR< 4 wherein said lugs of said curved frame are larger at the portion in vincinity of the inner circumference fo said curved frame.

6. A squash racket according to Claim 3 wherein said holes at both ends of each said fixing plate are not in alignment with each other.

7. A squash racket substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to Figures 1 to 3 or Figures 4 to 7 of the accompanying drawings.
