Abstract

In a nuclear reactor control system, automatic power control is effected to maintain a constant output by adjustment of emergency control rods. In addition, a computer controls the reactor operation generally by sequential scanning, in accordance with both stored reference data and measured parameters such as temperature, position of control rods and the period of the reactor. The results are recorded, for example in printed form. The signals corresponding to the parameters are converted into digital form prior to comparison with the stored reference values. The computer selects the parameter to be measured and either automatic or manual selection may be adopted. In the automatic model, inspection of the system prior, during and after start-up and during shut-down may be effected. To vary power output, the computer actuates the control rods in a predetermined manner following an order to the computer from the operator.
