Abstract

1,128,887. Motor controls. KOPPERS CO. Inc. 28 Feb., 1967, No. 9579/67. Heading H1T. A housing 10 and means for positively circulating the air within the housing is provided to seal a motor control unit, which may be as described in U.S. Specification 2,967,270, the control unit comprising an autotransformer 51 with wipers having variable positioning to control the speed of a D.C. motor and means for changing the position of the wipers, the air circulation cooling the unit to maintain it within a predetermined temperature range. The air circulation is provided by a further housing 53 about the autotransformer and a duct 55 in which is mounted a fan and vanes (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown), for forcing air over the windings of the autotransformer in a uniform manner. A door 11 on the housing 10 is provided with a sealing gasket 13.
