Abstract

A heater panel comprises a textile fabric woven from heat resistant yarns and has a carbon yarns inserted in either the weft or warp (pref. the warp) direction. The carbon yarns are pref. connected to a metal (pref. copper) strip extending along the edge of the fabric and the metal strip is connected to an electrical supply whereby the carbon yarns are heated. The panels are strong and stable and can be produced in large sizes to provide large heating surfaces. When the panels are rigid they can be connected together in the form of a box to provide a heated enclosure. Pref. one carbon yarn is provided for every three heat resistant yarns and pref. one face of the panel is covered with a layer of thermally insulating matl.
