<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

REVENDICATIONS.

Transformers are widely used in the electrical field for supplying suitable voltage to the most diverse devices or machines.
Thus these transformers are used in particular for medical radiography devices and certain electrical welding stations.
In some cases, feeding after being established for a very short time must be discontinued; this application case is encountered, for example, above all in medical radiography.
It is known that the switching on and off of the voltage cannot take place without danger at any given moment. To prevent arcing between the contacts when tripping,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
devices are already known which produce these operations at the most favorable moment when the current passes through a minimum. Devices are also known which, in order to avoid transient phenomena and while allowing tripping and reclosing when the voltage is zero, allow the transformer to be reclosed only in the case where the cycle interrupted by the last outage continues, that is to say by respecting the continuity of the alternation or of the polarity.
The main patent relates to an electronic device intended for the case of application to a single-phase transformer and which comprises a current inverter having a movable member cooperating with fixed contacts establishing electrical circuits in two stable positions. The position of the movable member is dependent on the polarity of the supply current of the transformer at the time of the last breaking and the contacts establish the electrical circuits so that the next reclosing is carried out by continuing the interrupted cycle.
Such a device cannot be applied as-1 to the supply of a three-phase transformer given that the latter never presents, in its supply circuit, a zero power.
However, experience has shown that this device could be applied to the power supply of a three-phase transformer if the precaution is taken not to cut and then reconnect the three phases at the same time.
The present improvement with the aim of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
allow the application of the electronic device covered by the main patent to the tripping and reclosing of a three-phase transformer for a very short time, consists in using two separate contactors, with three contacts, actuated by group successively during closing and when opening the supply circuit. In other words, a current inverter having a movable member establishing electrical circuits in two stable positions as in the main patent, controls via an electronic circuit the two contactors each having three contacts which open and close the power supply circuit of the transformer.
According to one characteristic, when switching on to supply the transformer, a first contactor with three contacts has a contact which closes slightly behind the other two while the second contactor is completely closed beforehand; when tripping on the second contactor, a contact which does not correspond to the delayed contact of the first contactor opens slightly ahead of the other two.
The present improvement will be more easily understood from the following description of the appended drawings in which the figure, which is a diagram showing an embodiment, only includes the elements necessary for understanding.
In the figure there is shown at 1 a three-phase transformer whose primary winding is formed by coils 2, 3 and 4 arranged in a triangle. Secondary unwinding consists of coils 5, 6 and 7 which
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
are connected in a star; the transfurmator load is made up of impedances schematized in 8.9 and
10. The primary winding comprising the coils 2, 3 and 4 is supplied with current from a source not shown connected to terminals 11, 12 and 13 and formed for example by the sector.
On the supply conductors of the transformer are mounted two electromagnetic contactors whose movable armatures can be actuated by the coils shown diagrammatically at 17 and 21, by means of a known device, not shown. The contactor of the coil 21 is closed for the purpose of the engagement, that is to say that the contacts 18, 19 and 20 are all closed prior to the engagement.
Then, the contactor which is actuated by the coil 17 and which has three contacts 14, 15 and 16 is controlled by a known device so that, when closing only two of its contacts, 14 and 16 for example, close at a given moment of, change of the voltage between the phases at the terminals 11 and 13 while the third contact 15 closes slightly later.
In this way, the coil 4 which is connected to the mains is subjected to full voltage; in parallel with 4, coils 2 and 3 are subjected to half the voltage.
As by construction, the contact 15 is delayed relative to the other two, 14 and 16, so we close on this contact 15, a fraction of a period later, at a time when the voltage at its terminals changes sign, i.e. that is, when the voltage is zero; the switching on of the transformer will thus be achieved without shock. From this moment, the two controllers

are f-rnished. Alurs, if we want to d (! Cl'211chr le tr ', 1..5r;:. R.- mateur we act on the coil diagram in 21 using

of a known device, so that 1 'cùnt: i,: t' 1 ". I open first, when the current passing through it is canceled.
The two other contacts 19 and 20 being still closed, the coil 3 of the transformer is at this moment under full voltage and the two coils 2 and 4 are under a voltage half less. The two contacts 19 and 20 then open simultaneously as soon as zero current occurs. This delay in opening is easily obtained by moving the contacts 19 t 20 relative to 18.
